The Game
The strengths here are Fincher’s usual style and Douglas, who carries the movie thanks to his sensibilities as an actor pairing well with those of his director. Additionally, this is a great movie to watch if you want to know how to make your own look incredible. However, there is absolutely nothing going on here internally. Despite the high amount of craftsmanship on display, there’s absolutely nothing going on that attaches me to Douglas’ character or makes me really care about what’s going on. The script feels as if it were written on autopilot by the kid in film school who says they’re going to try their hand at a sinister thriller.
