Amadeus
Truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen. F. Murray Abraham portrays Antonio Salieri amazing. His depiction of deep jealousy, envy, and hatred culminates in profound tragedy for both his character and Wolfgang. Their relationship in both how similar and different they are is so compelling. Every aspect of this film from its absolutely breathtaking production design, elegant costume design, and phenomenal makeup (especially on old Salieri) just has me in awe. But in a movie about music, let’s get to that. The score is just astounding (I’m running out of adjectives), the way it elevates every scene is just insane, I was seriously overwhelmed at certain points by how profound and powerful some scenes were on top of the breathtaking score. From start to finish Amadeus is a monumental accomplishment in cinema, my god I’m just in awe.
