2001: A Space Odyssey
okey, ak akan yapping, so this is my thoughts...
This movie tells its story not through dialogue but through visual symbolism. I think that to understand what this movie intended, you need kind of philosophical or rather psychological approaches, in this case i think about "Existensialism". Furthermore, from what i thought, Kubrick want us to deep dive about the existensial transformation and human evolution i guess
It shown clearly by starting from the primitive apes in the beginning, transitioning into the use of technology and the exploration of space and then towards the unlimited conciousness yang gak bisa dijelasin— like HAL9000 as an Ai being a metaphor about human machine relationship, the Star-Child(lupa?) could be a metaphor of peak or highes evolution.
Then there is some ambiguous thing that's need to be highlighted which is the monolith; who create the monolith? What the real function? Is it leading towards another evolution or an existential threat?
I've never seen a movie like this before, such an art literature pour into movie. tbh kinda draining for watching it bcs i need to rewind and sips some cigs but definitely an absolute cinema. One kind of movie you should watch and try to understand once for a lifetime tho
