Mononoke

There’s a lot to say about Mononoke; but I’ll try to keep it brief.  This is probably the single piece of media which most richly depicts Japanese culture; the art style, the references to theatre and Japanese society and folklore are all worked into the stories so well.  The art style is gorgeous, the sound design is so fresh and original and the stories are so captivating. The medicine man is always so cool to watch and listen to.  I love the small details in this; the way the camera moves, the way characters are drawn and represented and how they often contrast the medicine vendor, the rich environments and art are all so cool it’s amazing this came out in 2007.  My list for the arcs is  1.) incense  2.)
