Moonlight

I love this movie. The performances, themes, and presentation are all so masterful that despite a large portion of the movie being silence I was fully engaged the entire time. The feelings the movie cultivated for the first hour and a half winds down to such a beautiful sense of catharsis. In this movie there’s hypocrisy, selfishness and depravity but also dignity, redemption and triumph. I’m usually not one for largely silent protagonists but Chiron at every stage of his life remains so expressive and consistent it’s really an testament to the actors ability.
