mid90s
well this was special.
the first attempt of jonah hill being a director. and shit was funny as hell. well just the first half of the film, till the mood switches.
i mean it is a comedy(/drama) movie but it does not feel like its trying to be funny, rather just the script, story and actors are making it a sure-fire success being funny like it feels like its almost unintentionally funny. (yeah i cant explain well, just watch it you'll notice) but exactly that makes it so hilarious and feel like its real. speaking of realness even though this movie is from 2018 it genuinely looks like its from the mid 90s. but the drama part is almost as good as the comedy part, just wow.
fuck. shit.
*note 1: *why is this white/samoan dude spamming the n-bomb?😭
note 2: his brother looks like ,,frederik jäkel" you probably dont know him but yeah google him. he is literally the rebirth of him. and he deserves better even though he beat up stevie several times
note 3: ray is the rebirth of lil baby or ken carson, it depends on the angle😭 but he is definetely the maturest of them all. i bet you could write an essay about his background even though you know nothing about him. that just shows again how great the acting is
note 4: the houseparty was dead as fuck, but the cuts on the beat were great
*note 5: *how did his underage ugly looking goofy ass got the baddest bitch on the party💀 but probs to the script writer, the actor of stevie mustve been happy as shit. but is this even legal, making out with a 27(!) year old woman as a 12(!) year old (ages of the actors when the movie came out)💀
note 6: the vibe and the drip is crazy. and the last scene is one of the coldest i have ever seen
after reading all this you think, wtf is this guy waffling about, but after watching it you know damn well what i meant.
and after watching it, i realized like at 2/3 of the movie that i have watched this before. i am not 100% sure, but 99% ... bruuuuh😭
