How very strange to watch I vividly remember having an eerily similar idea for a film I wrote, though the only difference was the incorporation of mirrors in the finale, to invite the viewer in, ask them to reflect on their own identities, and gently nudge them to come to know the person looking back at them from the other side. It never truly manifested itself into reality, though, so I suppose this will be as close as it gets to that idea for the time being. It’s strange in the way it shows how we as humans can conjure up similar thoughts and creative ideas while being separated by hundreds of years, across thousands of miles, and through different cultures.

i would rather get shot, twice, in the leg before watching another tarantino movie

Terrifying. Terrifying. But beautiful and brave. Choosing to be a parent, and bringing a child into this world, knowing that in doing so you’re subjecting them, and yourself, to all sorts of tragedies that might befall you, emerging just as a consequence of being, and seeing them unfold before your eyes. Intimately watching them grow, learning to speak, to question, to imagine, blooming from such a delicate, fragile state into a fully radiant thinking being.. I’m honestly overwhelmed, and completely taken by this surge of emotions, but I think, mostly beneath it all, I’m just deeply grateful. Such a wonderful yet aching experience.
