Satantango

"Not that human life was so highly valued. Keeping order appears to be the business of the authorities, but in fact it's the business of all. Order. Freedom, however, has nothing human. It's something divine, something... our lives are too short for us to know properly." Finally finished Satantango. Took me 7 fucking hours since I watched half of it at night and finished the rest today. The shots were beautiful from the very beginning and the dialogues were fascinating, but the story really starts getting interesting after chapter 5 and from there I was completely invested. The cat scene was fucking insane, and Irimiás' speech after Estike's death was easily one of my favourite parts. The ending was great too. Also, the average shot is around 1.5–2 minutes, so if you don't watch slow movies, you're gonna die watching this . It took a while to fully click for me, but once it did, it was absolutely worth it.
