Arrival

I can’t even fully put into words how amazing I think this movie is. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like not enough people acknowledge how this film accomplishes the seemingly impossible, that being capturing the idea of cosmic horror. The aliens in this film never cause harm to others, yet every moment they’re on screen the tension builds to an extreme level. After having now read the original short story this is based on, my appreciation for this has increased. The fact that Dennis Villeneuve (and the rest of the cast and crew of course) were able to take that story and transform it into this without losing the integrity of the original deserves a standing ovation. Truly a remarkable film
