I've read too much Lovecraft because every time someone mentions a black goat my brain yells at me: Iä Shub Niggurath! Iä Shub Niggurath! Black Goat of a thousand young! Really all this confirms my theory that (given ones acceptance if the thesis of social fascism) Martin Luther could be called the first social democrat. Then again, I couldn't tell you why I felt such a confirmation of this belief during this film. Now that I think about it, perverse fertility fits into the themes of witch-hunting at least a little bit. If Black Philip is the Mighty Mother, does that make Thomasin Yog-Sothoth or the Not-to-Be-Named One?
