Frankenstein
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
I've never been personally deeply exposed to the story of frankenstein as a kid so this is kind of like my first kind of outlet and boy did I love it.
In its essence this is a tale about the cardinal sin of pride, yet manages to resolve happily which is surprising. A man driven by pure ego to disprove and challenge god to bring back life accomplishes just that, but in his pride he seeked to destroy the very being he had created. As a child frankenstein's "monster" was always portrayed to be just that in my eyes, a monster, but watching this I shared a sort of.. empathy with him? it? It kind of feels like an allusion to any sort of mythology where one is punished eternally, except this beings punishment is eternal life. I can't go further without spoiling but this was an absolutely marvelous experience, the acting, the cinematography, the plotline, I was TRULY glued to my screen for 120 minutes, which doesnt happen often.
