Moonlight
To me, the devastation is driven by the world of the movie intentionally feeling so small (and therefore relatable). Subtle, silent moments… the everyday and the mundane; Juan’s death happening offscreen and only ever told through brief mentions, for one… even down to the set pieces, which never once feel big or vast- instead we are just faced with small, intimate, often unmemorable environments in regard to their overall physical setting and background. A true slice of life, you almost forget that you are watching a movie with a plot
I just wanted to hug teenage Chiron :( so much hurt in those eyes
Don’t kill me but some of the dialogue/performances were just a littleeeeee cringe and clunky here and there, took me out of it every now and then despite being extremely immersive at all other times
