Iron Man
it baffles me how this movie unintentionally mirrors how advanced weaponry and foreign intervention affect ordinary people more than anyone else. The Gulmira scene made me think about the children in those situations. Imagine how many of them are out there, holding on to whatever hope they have left, wishing that someone like Iron Man or some kind of superhero—will come and save them.
That being said, Tony Stark’s arc feels less like a typical hero origin story and more like accountability. He didn’t just “become better.” He was forced to confront the fact that he built the very thing that caused that kind of suffering.
Politically, the film only scratches the surface. It simplifies a very complex reality into something easier to digest, turning systemic issues into something one man can fix. Still, it leaves you thinking :)
