While compressing such a sprawling story required some narrative shorthand, the adaptation remains remarkably true to the source material and thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Christopher Nolan breathes vibrant life into the ancient tale, relying heavily on impressive physical acting and minimal CGI. The star-studded cast is a true who’s who of Hollywood talent: John Leguizamo knocks his role out of the park, while Charlize Theron and Matt Damon share a captivating dynamics as Calypso and Odysseus that makes their quixotic relationship ring true.
