Titane
everyone interprets films in their own way based on their experiences.
and personally... titane speaks about the messiness, conflict and aggression of transitioning, of genderfluidity. it also speaks about new cycles, new life, starting over.
none of these are related to eachother atleast not logically, but randomly, this is what I think about titane:
the pain of binding your chest, the hurt, the hate. the questioning, the happiness, the liberation.
it speaks of human life as birth pains, as a constant do and pretend.
new cycles of life, not only through birth, but through change. discovering yourself and who you really are, being free.
realizing that family isn't those ones related to you through dna always, sometimes family is... whoever you find comfort with.
femininity as rage and a never ending fire in your guts, masculinity as a deep ocean, mostly calm with sometimes treacherous waters.
the film is not transphobic or misogynist as some would poorly say, but I think its the type of raw media that allows the idea of transgenderism to exist outside of cis guilt, like most transgender characters or experiences in media are solely there to make you feel sympathy. titane is there to make you feel excited, to defy your perceptions. it's ugly, it's gross, full of blood and other liquids. as it should be.
