The Shining

Wow. Can a movie feel like nostalgia even if you’ve never seen it before? It feels like they just don’t make movies like this anymore.  This one’s been on the watchlist forever and I actually just started reading the book a week or two ago so imagine how hyped I was when I found out it was being played in theaters.  This is truly an incredible film all around. The score is beautifully unsettling, the camera work is stunning, and the Overlook is made to feel grand and suffocating all at once. Jack Torrance is one of the most sinister characters in film history and watching his descent into madness was truly a masterpiece. Genuine generational performance from Nicholson.
