Amélie

I've had a particular song from Amélie in one of my playlists for ages, but I've never actually seen the film, so after many years of listening to just one song I thought I'd give it a watch. What a beautifully unique film, Amélie tells the story about a young woman who finds joy in spreading kindness to others and enjoying the smaller side of life. It's a story that is told in such a fantastical way that it feels like a fairytale, there's such a unique style throughout from the colour palette to the editing and cinematography, I really don't think I'll ever see a film like this again. I loved each of the little stories that is told and how they all have their own place within the film. It never feels too much and each one gets the time it deserves. All the characters are so memorable and all have moments where they get to express themselves as an individual. The second half especially feels like a warm hug as Amelie navigates her way through her own love life while also trying to better the lives of those around her. Looking forward to listening to the soundtrack again now with the context of this whimsical story.
