Cure
Cure by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Wow. First of all thank you to Asher for this banger of a suggestion. Cure is a crime thriller that absolutely twists your mind like no other will. Every moment feels large and every scene feels necessary. This is one of the best films ever made. Someone needs to stop me because I’m watching too much peak the past 4 days. This is the best film of its genre. Cinematography was on point and set up the entire vibe of the film. The score is nonexistent almost I mean it come is sometimes and is absolutely eerie but it never needs to be there and that really separates this film a lot because it is so quiet. I’m not kidding I was on the edge of my seat and kept guessing the entire time I mean I was glued to my TV. Performances here by Koji Yakusho and Masato Hagiwara absolutely stand out and make the film what it is. I think this is just easily in my top 4 possibly for good with Beau and Stalker. I don’t know man there’s not anything really like this out there. It’s the best crime thriller because as a crime film the mystery is so engaging and brain rattling but it also throws in the horrific thriller elements in there and it genuinely blends so beautifully to make a film that has you fucking fixated. I can’t use words to describe this film because there’s so much good and it’s just too good for words. Just one I’ve never seen a film combine thrilling atmosphere with a horrific crime mystery like this. Hits on every level and is undeniably a top 3 film in my book. I hope my streak of peak stays alive.
