i love the book too much to judge this fairly. but i will say it’s always interesting to see casting choices for book-to-film adaptations.. because not once while reading it did i ever imagine anyone remotely resembling aaron eckhart as a hesitant, repressed, and suffering scholar. “he was a compact, clearcut man, with precise features, a lot of very soft black hair, and thoughtful dark brown eyes. he had a look of wariness, which could change when he felt relaxed or happy, which was not often in these difficult days…” 🧐
