Fallen Angels
This is easily the most aesthetically pleasing movie i’ve ever seen. It literally makes me want to find a tunnel with neon green lights just so I can drive down it at 3 AM with the windows down.
i absolutely loved how the film looked and how the camera moved with all those weird tricks: the black and white shifts, the smeary low frame rates, and whatever the heck that warped oil painting look was through the restaurant window with Charlie and Zhiwu while the fight is happening behind them. honestly, that is one of my favourite shots I've ever seen in a movie.
but what truly got to me is how raw the emotion actually is. Wong Kar-wai somehow makes you care so deeply about these characters that you barely know, and within such a little timeframe, especially Zhiwu. It’s just this beautiful, chaotic reminder that love is powerful but fleeting it’s all trial and error, and that’s completely okay.
“i never turn my back on the chance to rub elbows. sometimes i rub until i bleed. no big deal, as long as im happy.
