American Psycho

I’m too woke for American Psycho I fear. Is that so wrong? I get it … he’s a symbol of everything wrong with our society and pokes fun at people who are like Patrick Bateman. He’s just one big caricature. But I would rather watch a blue-haired liberal’s video essay about yaoi than be subjected to patriarchy-affirming—and maybe even encouraging unmeaningly—male fantasy media like this for long periods of time.  I understand why men and evil masc lesbians like this film so much. This is the favorite movie of that one guy you’re talking to who thinks he’s “different from the others” and “really into style” and “niche music” when he’s just like every other guy and sends the most unfunny reels. No offense.  But it’s a good thing I got to watch a “classic.” The best thing about trying everything is that you learn what you don’t like. 2 stars because it did its job: showed a disgusting but true reflection of the world we live in and also left all of us wondering to this day if what happened in the movie was true or if it was all in his head.
