I loved this movie, everything from the direction to the performances I was moved, a look on Jay Kelly made me feel bad for him when it was so easy to root against him I couldn’t, I wanted him to reconcile with people. Pairing it with the love of cinema made it a perfect movie for me. Seeing Jay Kelly step through his memories and seeing them in a new light made me really think. And the quote his daughter says at the end to him will haunt me. I can tell how this movie may not be for everyone but it definitely is for me.

Hmm… I’m not sure if this movie knew what it was most of the time? What seemed and was acted by most of the cast as a romcom had undertones of drama portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen only, which isn’t a bad thing but weird to me in a romcom. For me it was such a predictable movie where I easily guessed most of the plot twists and the couple I didn’t get weren’t even that shocking. The only thing I was intrigued by was Da’Vine Joy Randolph and even then I was heavily disappointed by the execution of her character. I think the talents of Elizabeth Olsen were wasted in this movie and other thoughts I have on her performance will stay private.

One thing about knives out franchise is that the confession scene will be iconic, and one of the “plot twists” will be so predictable from the second you watch it then it goes deeper in a way that you could never imagine

I genuinely could speak so much praise about this movie and the performances within it. Jessie Buckley made me cry multiple times throughout the movie and made me rethink what I thought it would be over and over. Paul Mescal brought something I didn’t even know he had, I did not realize how strong of an actor he was, and even though it could’ve been easy to root against him I wasn’t, I wanted them all to succeed. And Jacobi Jupe???? Where did that little kid come from, I was so attached to him and loved him so much and everything about him in this film made me love him even more. His brother too? I heard praise but I didn’t realize how strong that performance was in the little time he had. Chloe Zhao as well, such a well directed piece and I could tell she helped write it too, she truly made a Sheakspere tragedy stay a tragedy through this film which often gets forgotten over time this film will not leave my mind for the next month minimum.
