Prisoners
Prisoners is not just a perfectly executed thriller but also a meditarion on the difference of justice and morality. The former is presented by the detective, while the father embodies the latter. It asks about how far can a person go when faced with suffering, and does morality justify inadherence to justice. It's also a study of how grief corrodes ethics ans blurs the line between right and wrong. The film shows that the nature of evil is complex and sometimes inexplicable. The cinematography is probably the best aspect of this film, as each frame feels heavy. The slow-burning thriller setting makes it a very captivating watch. Overall, Prisoners is a great thriller that offers an exploration of the tension between morality and justice.
