Braindead
16/31 - “Braindead”
Peter Jackson churns out a horrid Hobbit trilogy but only one Braindead masterpiece. This isn’t adding up.
“Braindead” offers such an abundance of fun that this may become an annual tradition. Its silliness and B movie like atmosphere really intensify “Braindeads” comforting viewing experience.
Who needs “Terrifier 3” when we have Lionel’s lawn mower sequence. Absolute cinema.
It’s Evil Dead but possibly more unhinged. Balme certainly resembles Campbell when he’s head to toe in bodily fluids.
Speaking of, the amount of fake blood used is beyond insane. I’m almost certain that the budget was primarily spent on this and I couldn’t be happier.
Genuinely hilarious at times, you can truly sense the amount of joy that the actors are having with this.
Loved Lionel’s little arc of growing up and facing his fear. I perceive Vera’s final form to be how Lionel has viewed his mother for his entire life. When he claws his way out of her (literally), he is free from such manipulation and hardship.
“Haven’t seen mum yet” contrasts so well with Lionel running frantically to his mother without a moments notice, sidelining everyone/thing in his life in favour of such.
I love the visuals, performances, dialogue, humour and everything in between.
I love “Braindead”.
October is so back!
“Stand back boy! This calls for divine intervention!”
