Inception
They say this is a film meant for the white performative male™.
I could agree, but come on: watching this again at an older age reminded me of the reason why Nolan is where he is, the reason he is WHO he is.
Some shots are picture-perfect, every detail is accurately planned out, and the cast is to die for.
I probably would have liked for Arianna's entry to the team to be explained a little better, to be more gradual, but I also understand that he couldn't have made a 4-hour-long film just to develop every single thing he could think of.
This is the point where a heist film crash-lands onto science fiction.
I feel like this is what would have happened if the characters from Matrix didn't really care to get out into the "real world" and just decided to find the way to manipulate the reality they chose to live in.
DiCaprio's acting was hauntingly beautiful, Murphy made me feel all sorts of things as someone who relates to his story.
I hated Mal. I hate myself for hating her. It's not her fault. It's completely her fault.
She's not the one to blame. I would blame her if I could.
In the end, let's take this film as a reminder that men are the worst at problem-solving, and I'll wrap it up this way.
