close knit families are great but this is too far. funniest part of this is when anne meara said “by the time we find a restaurant and leave a note they’ll be back down” and pat mcnamara just leaves the car lmfao. anne meara did an incredible job playing an overbearing mother. i mean it was hard to laugh and not take a deep breath after every line. a mom who “knows everything” and always is right with a deep passion for narcissism and control. those two characters stood out the most to me. liev was great and had some amazing lines. he really sold the “i’m smarter than the average guy” but with no confidence or belief in himself. he likes to puff his chest out and act like he’s humble about it. the sets in this are incredible and feel so real. very tense and very well played arguments between couples caught lying. in each one you can just read their faces so well. the rooftop party was such an obvious but so unexpected reveal. really great script and it was presented wonderfully. * “he’s kidding” “oh..” *
