Amélie
amelie is one of those characters i didn't just fall in love with but felt completely exposed by. this film perfectly captures the paradox of wanting a sweeping romance but also refusing to be perceived. i loved and enjoyed every second of it. she turns her own isolation into an art form, hiding behind quirky observations and fixing other people's lives just so she doesn't have to participate in her own. it drags for maybe a split second but the ending is so beautiful and healing 🤧 this is definitely a new comfort movie of mine
(i also firmly believe that a modern day amelie would not play about audrey hobert)
