Saving Face

Part of the "I should call my mom after watching this" canon Loved it so much, so clever and funny and cute and heartbreaking and cheesy in all the right ways. I don't know how to explain it but it feels so real, like all this really happened (even though so much of it is SO dramatic) and that this world is real. It may have some familiar plot beats and some cliche moments but Saving Face is elevated by its phenomenal cinematography and acting and structuring and direction. This is a movie that does everything it sets out to do. I love it. Also, right after we watched this I put on the NBA finals and watched the Knicks pull off the biggest comeback win in playoff history. Is New York a real place?
