It’s a good Spider-Man movie and an okay movie. The webslinging scenes got me so hype to play the Spider-Man 2 video game. Additional marvel characters added to the movie without feeling like it was just cheap fan service. Minor spoilers: The whole Sadie Sink not revealing who her character was in all the press was super strange and weird. I had a mini pop off in the theatre when it was revealed who she was. But also like just don’t tote her around Hollywood saying she is some mystery character, just put her in the movie and don’t have her running around doing press where she can’t say anything.

Whoever told me Fe!n was confirmed in the movies sound track was an asshole. It’s one of the longest lasting human stories and there was no doubt it would be good in movie format. Here’s my thoughts on what made it a good movie and not an all time great. Spoilers ahead. The good: -Legitimately one of, if not the best, character arcs across the movies. Every single person all the way down to the dog had actions throught the movies that had long lasting consequences in how it influenced theirs story. The little details and callbacks to previous points in the movie were subtle and cherries on top instead of in your face and obvious The mid: -For a movie so hyped to be shot in imax 70mm I think I would have been disappointed to drive the 3 hour round trip to see it in 70mm. The film visuals were good, but don’t think they benefited much with the extra screen space. Overhyped marketing imo (spoken with a grain of salt from a digital format peasant) The bad (major spoilers) -I’m so frustrated in how they told the story of Odysseus. Seeing him alive and deserted with no memory meant that the meat and potatoes. The odyssey he went on, felt unconsiquential because we saw his end point. I believe this was a choice because it is such a know story but man what a bummer. Having the majority of the movie be told through the lense of the past snapped me out of the moment when they would cut back to the present. I was there to enjoy the story of Odysseus not some amnesia ridden man’s version of it. That being said the ending and the tying of the story was spectacular (see section the good)

People will watch this movie then book a trip to Sweden. It was fine. I understand why it’s popular but I can think of a dozen or so movies with similar shock value that deliver a stronger core message with a more developed plot. Music along the way was the best part holding the weakstoryline together with a soundtrack that kept you on the edge of your seat.
