Heat
I’d just like to apologise on behalf of myself and only myself for holding off on watching this movie for as long as I have, I don’t even know why it’s took me this long to watch it, maybe the runtime? The fact that it takes quite a lot to get me heavily invested into action movies? Or maybe I’m just a fucking gimp because this was one of the best I think I’ve ever seen, truly sensational.
Heat, is perfect filmmaking, it’s the first Michael Mann film I’ve ever seen and if this even has a hint of what else that man can produce then I am unbelievably gutted on what I’ve been missing out on. Everything and I mean everything in this film is perfect, the visuals are fucking tremendous and the way Mann has managed to capture Los Angeles is incredible, I absolutely adored this dimmed out blue skyline every-time it was on my screen, this has went top of my want list for a 4K version.
The sound design… my fucking word, it’s something I will hardly ever take notice to really for whatever reason but this just sounded so fucking good, the blasts from the guns, the aeroplanes taking off and that score, unbelievable.
The best thing about this has got to be the characters, De Niro and Al Pacino give outstanding performances in what is probably my favourite piece of work from each of them respectfully. The chemistry between them was unmatched too, every time there was some sort of interaction between the two, I couldn’t help but feel so just enticed into what was going on and that’s not just them two, anytime they would talk to Val Kilmers character or Ashley Judds, I just couldn’t stop watching.
Most importantly, everyone looked so fucking cool.
