who up being overly emotional about a volleyball with a bloody handprint on it :(((

when i was in 7th grade, a friend and i had 2 original characters who were homeless city dwellers called "hollywood" and "las vegas" that we'd draw cartoons of. i feel deeply that this is the type of adventure they would go on.

this ended up being personal to me in ways i almost don't know how to describe. not just as someone with a strained relationship to her asian parent, yeah there's that, but it also felt like a visualization of what it's like to live inside my own brain. it really is, everything everywhere all at once. all the time. a million things to do. a million universes in which life is better and you're better, a million possibilities and chances but none taken and all far away in those other universes, and the one that you're in is the worst possible one. you're the worst you and every mistake has led you here. but these other worlds of what-ifs don't matter! you need to accept it, and you can't run away. why can't she see and accept it? am i her? is she me? it was strange how "real", in the truest sense of the word, this movie felt to me and after reading one of the directors' comments about how they conceptualized evelyn's character, and what he found out about himself in the process, i just had to chuckle, because it's exactly what i'm going through, or have been going through for the last few years. it's insane. sometimes you see something and are like "wow! this is like it was made in a lab for me" and then it ends up being literally that. crazy. "i'm useless alone.""we're all useless alone. it's a good thing you're not alone."

guy two seats next to me: *head in hands* oh damn, shit, what the hellme (already spoiled): YES... HA HA HA... YES! still lots of fun even without the element of surprise regarding the ending. feels less chaotic and way more focused, but i'm not really sure if that's a positive or negative for me yet because while i heavily missed the over-the-topness of save the green planet, this was very much its own movie and i do kinda like it the way it is. one thing i loved for sure was the way the bees are woven into the narrative, i think my friend who learned beekeeping would have a great time with this movie lol
