Interstellar
This fully had the potential to be 5 stars upon a second rewatch. I watched it across several days which lessens it and kind of took me out of it (which was my fault but i have been busy.) I was also slightly confused at parts. But holy shit. This was wild. The story was obviously the main focus. Father daugherty relationships always kill me. I think next rewatch will be crazy knowing how it’s all connected. One thing that could’ve been communicated better is why he just didn’t gaf about his son? Black holes are such a crazy concept to me. Same with time relativity. I did kind of see coming is that “they” were themselves. Obviously i cannot sto thinking about the famous quote “they didn’t change us here to change the past” because it has so many layers. It applies to everyone. It really puts into perspective how important time is. Spending how we chose our time and realising that life is what we make it. Time is inevitable. I thought the part where they were on dr manns (matt damon’s) planet dragged on slightly. Linking back to his son getting forgotten about in not sure why they replaced his screen time with dr manns. Cooper was such a sad interesting character. Mathew McConaughlys performance was incredible. I finally got to know the context of the sticker of him sobbing. That scene was heart breaking and i could not stop thinking about my own dad. The scene of him telling his daughter he was leaving almost had me balling. I felt so bad for murphy. She was right all along!!! I am kind of confused about her beef with her brother but ig it was just their dad leaving and him living in her shadow ect. I thought that yet again the performance of both her young and adult self was really good. The twist of the betrayal of professor brand was insane. Near the end of the movie when she was old and dying and finally got to see her dad was absolutely devestating my glasses were actually steaming up. “ because my dad made me a promise.” oh my god. It was so cute and sad how all of the signs were cooper communicating with her though the tesseract. And if all came together with Murphy saving the world with help from her dad in space. #WomeninSTEM. I need to see this in the cinema. It is actually coming to somewhere near me the day i go to paris which is unlucky but hopefully next time. This was stunning already at home but it would be crazy on the big screen. The black hole was so pretty. That is the beauty of space films because you really have no limit to creativity and creating whatever world you want. Yet another film telling me i need to study astronomy and astrophysics. ( I failed physics and science horrifically at nat 4 when i was 14 and i despise maths.) I love sci fi. I would also like a moment to say that i hate everyone using this to slander project hail mary. Its just dumb and they are great in their own ways. I do think phm was slightly better but that may just be because i’ve been obsessed and it’s taken over my brain the past couple months. Christopher Nolan you are a genius and i am so excited for the Odyssey later this year.
