Psycho
great watch. honestly, the plot twist didn’t land as hard but it was still an enjoyable movie. the atmosphere of mystery that hitchcock managed to create was quite enthralling.
i found the plot twist to be a little underwhelming because after the first 50 mins of the movie, i was able to figure out that norman bates had some sort of split personality disorder and that maybe he was actually the one who was talking in his mother’s voice. the scene that actually threw me off was the one where he carries his mother to the fruit cellar. that was when i thought that maybe i was wrong and that maybe his mother was infact alive. however, in the end, when the the psychiatrist reveals the truth, i found out that was actually right. overall, i would say that the plot twist was lowk predictable which is what made it a bit underwhelming.
with all that said, i also want to praise hitchcock’s filmmaking. as i said in the beginning, he managed to create a very mysterious vibe since the starting of the movie. not to mention, some of the transitions in the movie were also pretty clean. some of the shots of bates’ house looked soooo good. the killing scenes, although a bit whacky according to today’s standards were also pretty clean, especially considering the fact that this movie was shot in 1960s. the dramatic ass music in the killing scenes also enhanced the vibe.
in conclusion, i liked the movie.
