TÁR
You wanna dance the mask, you must service the composer. You gotta sublimate yourself, your ego and, yes, your identity.
As Eminem would say, "Fuck the PC police."
Pitch perfect. Firstly, Cate Blanchett's performance commands attention. There wasn't a single scene in this 158min film that I wasn't enthralled with.
Secondly, the way this film can be understood in multiple ways sends me. Is Lydia a "bad woman"? Was she simply framed? Doesn't matter. Whoever she is and was, Lydia's passion and love for the orchestra isn't defined by her identity. It is her identity. The last scene, despite how simple, will probably live with me for quite a long time.
Thirdly, amazing score and direction. If there is one more thing that this film does so well is (duh!) dynamic and playful sound design.
Can't believe I've seated on this for so long!!!
