before watching it I didn't know people hated the movie that much. everyone is looking for depth and substance, but isn't the mario franchise beloved for fun and chaos? how deep do you want the story about plumbers fighting magical turtles, mushroom and shit to be? yeah, the pacing was tiktok brainrot worthy, the story wasn't as focused as the first film(and even that one was rushed), basically lots of new flashy characters and locations thrown at us every minute, but.. the animation was sick! all the movements, the action scenes were really fun to watch. Some jokes were funny, the worlds were vibrant and full of details, all character designs executed so good! Illumination is a weird studio in that way. they are able to deliver amazing visuals yet always neglect the story. and still rating it less than 3 is insane. being bitter is fine, but objectively we all can name more movies that are worse yet have a better average score :/ would I want the story to have more depth? sure! It would elevate it to be a good 4.5 maybe, but saying it's the worst experience of your life is so fucking dramatic. stop being snobby, get fresh air, sniff flowers, enjoy life a bit maybe?
