*Watched in IMAX digital Firstly, as an adaptation of The Odyssey, I think it's not great. I think themes are misunderstood, I think there's a modern or Nolan spin on the characters. Some I like, like Antinous and Penelope, others not so much - especially Odysseus himself. He's very much not the man of polytropos. I feel much content changed loses the psychology of Dark Age Greece, and allusions to the real Bronze Age. I feel Nolan misunderstood nuances to the Bronze Age collapse. I especially think his characterisation of Helen is a step down to basic from layered depth in Homer. However, as a cinematic experience this is exceptional. It is epic, purely and simply, technically brilliant, well paced, and well acted. Some shots are simply breathtaking. Exceptional cinematography and music. A treat to watch. Loses half a star I think for clunky dialogue at times. "Our age of bronze is collapsing" and so on.

Didn't really care for the story or message but fantastic cinematography

His best. A pincer of globetrotting spy thriller and entropy mechanics.
