I don't think I've actually seen a bank heist film before - I was drawn to this movie by the recognisable cast and Spike Lee, director of BlacKkKlansman which I was a fan of. Although I hadn't heard of this film before I went in expecting a great time.. It was okay. It was just a bit dull, there was so much dialogue and it wasn't particularly engaging. If this was based on true events it would've made the movie better (easy +half a star). The whole story about the bank owner and the mysterious motivations of the 'robbers' really didn't add much to the story - maybe if they elaborated on the 'why' of the heist I might've cared more.

Choo chooo all aboard the Gyllenhaal Express, stopping all stations (this is my last train reference). This was definitely his weakest film of the ones I've watched so far. I never really felt interested in what was happening to the characters - my favourite part might've been the opening 5mins. Maybe this is more of couples film. idk.

An interesting and unique take on an alien movie - probably a realistic depiction of how the world would react in these circumstances. I do like when I get hit with eureka moments when watching a movje, makes me feel a little smart. Outside of the cool alien design the rest of the movie fell a little flat and to be completely honest I think I fell asleep a few times. Which I promise has never happened before.

Noooo I needed more! I can't believe I'd never seen anything about this film before. It's a real brain twister in such an enjoyable way. To be honest I can't make complete sense of it but I had a good time. The polarity of Gyllenhaal's characters was very convincing and felt like two minds in identical bodies. Jumping back on the Gyllenhaal train, I can't tell if he's great at finding great films to work with or if he simply finds a film and makes it great. I think I'll watch a couple more Villeneuve movies later since this was just a masterpiece start to finish. It's based on the book "The Double" which I'll have to add to my reading list.
