Mannn I really wanted to love this more. A lot of the stuff here really connected with me, and the initial setup for the story is absolutely incredible. Unfortunately for me, the initial strong connection I had with the film faded away over time. This movie is still really cool though. Beautiful visuals, amazing sound design, awesome costume design, and it’s always doing something cool and unexpected. I also think the first half of the story, especially that first dinner table scene, is fascinating to watch. I think maybe this just hasn’t found me at the right time in my life yet because MAN I feel like most of this went straight over my head. I still really liked it, but hopefully future me will really love it

(I watched the extended cut of this, so this movie was 3 hours. I know this cut is controversial but trust me man, I REALLY did try to find the theatrical one) I loved this movie, for a long while. Tuco and Blondie’s relationship is very fun to watch and their banter is always entertaining. I also love how much more characterization is in this one, the scene with Tuco and his brother is one of my favorites across all 3 of the movies. This movie is also extremely funny. I laughed many times, Tuco specifically is hilarious. The story in general is awesome and remains impressively engaging for most of its 3 hour runtime. The ending is perfect. From the moment “The Ecstasy of Gold” plays the movie is a 10/10, the camera work in combination with the beautiful score makes for an incredible scene. Those last 20 minutes in general are nearly orgasmic. Speaking of the score, it is once again beautiful, legendary and amazing. It’s impossible to choose a favorite score across the 3 movies cuz they are all incredible. However, there are negatives to this movie that result in me not loving it just as much as I wanted to. The biggest one for me is the last hour ish of the film. The section in the last hour of the movie where it turns into more of a war movie I really did not enjoy. I didn’t care about the captain at all and it felt like it completely took its foot off the gas and slowed the movie to an agonizing crawl. All the civil war nonsense is lame. The pacing in general isn’t bad, but it can feel a little disjointed here and there, and I think this is mostly an extended edition problem. Another disappointment is Lee Van Clef. I don’t think we see enough of him and when we do, he isn’t nearly as cool as he is in For a few dollars more. Still a really good time tho. Even though the second half is not very good, the first half and the ending are so incredible that I still can confidently say I really liked it. Definitely my favorite of the trilogy, although For a few dollars I could for sure see me liking more with a future rewatch. For now tho, this is the best of the dollars trilogy. ***[“Classic”/“Cult Classic” Movies I’m Watching Ranked ](https://boxd.it/SPdXO)***

A better version of the first one in about every way, until the last act. Most of it is just not as cool as I thought it was gonna be. Would be rated a lot higher but it really did lose steam after they opened the safe. Once again a tuff movie though, the first half and ending are elite. I’d probably say I liked this one ever so slightly more. Even though fistful doesn’t really drag at all while this one does, a few dollars more just has a much better story and more entertaining characters. Lee Van Clef is awesome and I’m hyped to see him in the good the bad and the ugly, even though he’s a different character.
