An absolutely perfect film. The criterion release came in today (looks wonderful, btw), and this rewatch landed it back in my top four. Faye Dunaway is hypnotizing, Duvall is impenetrable. William Holden is funny as fuck in this and I wouldn’t even say that’s the best thing about his performance. Finch is a mad man in the best way possible. Satire will never look or feel any better, nor will it come close. So much goddamn fun. Literally effortlessly timeless. JFC, this is some piece of work.
