Scarface
Tony Montana to me has to be one of the most interesting characters ever written in all of the movies I have seen so far. The way someone can lose all of his control and power in such quick period of time just by letting his pride take over is indeed one of the key things in this movie. Tony’s constant need for dominance, power and to be superior to everyone was the reason why he got himself killed in the end.
He lost his right hand due to his own ignorance and the fact that he cannot accept that he’s in the wrong in the situation. That’s another reason why he lost the love of his life Manny, because in reality he was an egoistical man who only liked the idea of having someone by his side, and not the responsibilities that came with it.
His entire career rise happened in a flash. How he went from having nothing to everything with the snap of fingers without going through discipline or building trust is a factor why things kept escalating towards the end of the movie instead of stabilising.
Tony only ever wanted to be this large, threatening figure to everyone. He chased that big success and when he got it, he didn’t know how to handle it correctly because of his lack of experience. He thought that just because he is now full of money, everyone should bow down to him and worship him as some kind of God that he truly wasn’t.
Overall, he is indeed an iconic character, but mainly for his stupid reasons. Great movie, I need to rewatch it! (Again)
