The Hunt
I just finished watching this masterpiece and it was actually so devastating. It is a visual proof that even if you are proven innocent from your allegations, there would be still a group of people who think otherwise. No matter the proof.
In my opinion, at the start of the movie when Lucas went hunting and shot that deer down, it was a sign of him losing his ‘innocence’ (since deers are usually presented as pure, innocent creatures) because his life after that went downhill. The allegation ruined him both mentally and physically, slowly losing everyone in his life and everyone in his town feeling nothing more but pure hatred towards him.
In the last 6 minutes of the movie, Lucas was out hunting again, however he didn’t seem as confident as before. He didn’t intend to shoot the deer like he did the first time, which was maybe because he finally restored some of his lost ‘innocence’ back. However, he still obviously didn’t judging by how society treated him after all of that. How he nearly got shot.
I think this movie was brutal, and it’s a shame that it had been in my watchlist for so long. I loved every second of it.
