Nolan is an excellent cinematic engineer, but a mediocre artist. Michael Bay, if he took himself too seriously. His fastidious concern for realism never seems to extend to his characters, who feel like shallow comic book archetypes. Nolan’s Odyssey is an astounding technical achievement, but clinically and asexually rendered, lacking the resplendent colour, wit and humanity of the Greeks.

Absurd, wonderful chaos. The last ten minutes is a living, breathing katamari damacy level. So much is happening in the frame that Tati doesn’t allow you time to reflect on the small poignant moments, like the reflections of old Paris in the glimmering glass doors, before your attention is stolen again by another visual non sequitur.
