Apocalypse Now

My 5th rewatch and it’s just as good every fucking time This visceral masterpiece of cinematic art again,  gave me literal goosebumps from start to end, hearing The Doors’ «The End» in the best opening sequence and end of a movie ever is always so fucking beautiful. The performances from Robert Duvall, Martin Sheen and Marlon fuckin Brando are so goddamn iconic they redefine what acting can achieve in the chaos of war.  I want to praise every goddamn element of this film, because Apocalypse Now is a symphony where nothing misses a beat. Coppola is a literal wizard of visionary and was well ahead of his time. The cinematography by Vittorio Storaro is the best ever, so beautiful, real and spectacular shots that you really feel like you’re in that shithole for 3 hours. Sound design deserves its own altar, hearing those chopper blades thumping like a heartbeat and those damn explosions that rattle you to your core, all immersing you so deeply you forget it’s a fucking movie. it’s not just the best war film ever made, it’s the greatest film ever made and it’s the pinnacle of the art form, period.
