wow
theres the usual things i can say which can be carried across most of kubricks films the cinematography, the score, the set design but ‘a clockwork orange’ really shines in all 3 the futuristic but earie score clashing with the old fashioned beethoven along side the futuristic sets this film could easily be set on a different planet and none of the sets would need to be changed and the camera work especially in the scene in the third act were alex crawls across the bridge as the camera shakes as if we the viewer are crawling behind.
the first act brilliantly brought me into alex’s personality and his world and gave such a large reason to hate him which i did, all to be switched in the 3rd act were i (as i’m guessing was intended to) sympathised with him this film brilliantly explores themes of forgiveness and free will and corruption in the government, which is most chilling in the ending were the government let’s a psychopath run free.
