Easily the saddest movie I’ve ever seen. Worthy of every tear shed. Feel sort of stupid for not picking up on all the subtleties until the beach scene. There are so many different angles/perspectives you can look at this through, and each of them will leave you feeling more heartbroken than the last.
Fantastic acting. My family has a good amount of VCR vids of us, and the scenes of Sophie talking to the camera are scarily accurate. The fact that this is essentially an autobiography from the director (this is her debut film, by the way) tenfolds the emotions.
Vulnerable, sentimental, tragic. Really a unicorn film.
