Co-Host of the Close-Up Podcast top four are films that have been on my mind recently

completely insane movie in a way i kind of admired even when it lost me. it throws romance, religion, comedy, violence, and pure chaos together nonstop, and somehow keeps escalating for almost four hours straight. i liked how committed it is to being excessive, but it definitely feels exhausting at times. when it works, it’s genuinely hilarious and emotionally intense, and when it doesn’t, it can feel like way too much all at once. messy, wild, and impossible to forget. even when i wasn’t fully on board, i respected how fearless it is.

doesn’t feel like a punisher project at all, just feels like something randomly thrown together. frank is fighting inner demons but there’s no real depth to it, it just feels like it’s included because “that’s a part of his character.” as far as the action goes, i honestly think it sucks that this is probably the worst action we’ve gotten from jon bernthal’s punisher till this point. i didn’t feel any thrill or sense of choreography included in this, there wasn’t any weight to it all. and just when it felt like it was getting good, that was when the ended.
