The Handmaiden
Amazon titled it as a romance, and idk that was more of a twisted psychological thriller that had me intrigued at every turn.
The ACT 1, 2, 3 way of telling stories does something for me, and was perfect for this style of film. Although, even though I knew this, the story was so powerful that I forgot until Act 2 started.
The range of feelings towards each character swung like a pendulum depending on where you were at, and the level of deception and theatricality here still has me knotted up.
Also highly worth noting that PCW held nothing back when it came to the show of affection in this movie, wildly arousing yet delicate and beautiful.
One of those films that highlights that
A. No matter the motives for getting involved in anything, they can change and love has a massive impact on them.
B. Everyone reaps what they sow eventually, and in unexpected ways
The cinematography was some of the most beautiful shots I’ve ever seen in a movie.
