After Hours
I’m not sure that I’ve had more fun watching a movie than I did watching After Hours.
It was wierd, I had to keep reminding myself that I was watching a Scorsese film despite De Niro or DiCaprio not being in it. But you’re reminded who’s the director pretty frequently with his fast editing style. I think his style matches the vibe of the film almost perfectly. It puts us in the mind of the distraught main character who just wants to go back to his bed.
Griffin Dunne as Paul Hackett is one of my favorite performances from any movie I’ve seen recently. I love how well he wears his emotions on his face. He had me cracking up for nearly all 97 minutes of runtime.
The rest of the characters were incredibly memorable in my opinion. Everyone just has something so stupid about their character which is probably the thing I loved most from this movie. Just how obscure the side characters get.
This is a movie where everything goes wrong, but it’s done so well. I highly recommend. One of Scorsese’s best.
After Hours: 8.6/10
