Paris, TexasB Pops10.0· July 10, 2025FollowBack when I had my anonymous film TikTok account Paris, Texas was a film that I would always see other accounts posting about. I would consistently see it in the top 5 of other people's favorite movies. And I knew nothing about the movie, except that it was incredibly sad and the ending was crazy. A few days ago my friend watched it and freaked out. He insisted me to watch it as well, so I finally watched the film that was on my watchlist for years. I was not disappointed at all. Every single shot was beautiful. I've never been more in awe over the cinematography and settings in a film like I was watching Paris, Texas. Robby Müller was in his bag with this one. I loved the amount of neon in this film, I loved how many breathtaking views there were, everything just looked perfect all the time. And the shots in the final conversation are unreal. I thought that the acting in this movie was near perfect. I believed everyones chemistry. Hunter Carson as Hunter Henderson is probably the best child under 10 performance I've seen. Harry Dean Stanton in this might be my new favorite performance of all time. Especially after watching it a second time, his performance gets even better as you know what is constantly going through his mind. And Nastassja Kinski was able to steal the show in the final 10 minutes with her few scenes. Both hers and Stanton's monologues in the ending are incredible. On top of being a great film from a technical view, this movie left me thinking about it more than any other I've seen. There were at least 3 separate points the night I watched Paris, Texas where I would text my friend saying how I can't believe how good it was and how emotionally devastating it was. I've never felt worse after watching a movie than I did with Paris, Texas. The entire film is basically just build up to the final scenes. It's a slow burn, in the best way possible. You're given plenty of time to try to understand what's going on and understand characters. Then, the movie just goes from 0-100 emotionally. It hits like a train in Travis and Jane's final conversation, realizing what actually happened. How Travis's actions led to Jane having to work at a peep show. The horrible person Travis was with Hunter and Jane. And it sticks with you long after the credits roll. I've seen other sad movies, and this is sad in a different way.
