i was scared it would be self centred but it's not. it is clean and sober and down to earth. the 2046 side setting is weird and fun and genius - maybe my favourite thing in all of his films. it def didn't need to be 2+ hours and in the first half it gets a bit superfluous... then it just flies to become a manifesto for love according to wkw la malesserificazione di tony leung
